Providence Cristo Rey Graduate Named to Board of Directors

A Providence Cristo Rey High School graduate has been named to the school's Board of Directors. She is the first school graduate to hold a seat on the Board.

Montanea Daniels graduated from Providence Cristo Rey High School in 2011. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Franklin College in 2015.

She currently works for Eli Lilly as a Biologist in the Autoimmune department. While at Providence, she worked for Lilly through the school's Corporate Work Study Program.

What does it mean for you to be on the school's Board of Directors?

It means a lot to me. I can't wait to give back in this way. I appreciate being able to help current students - I was once in their shoes.

This school is a big reason why I am where I am today and it means a lot to me to be able to give back.

When you were a student, did you ever see yourself working for Lilly after college?

After working there for corporate work study, I really wanted to be able to go back after I finished my degree. It was awesome to be part of such a big, well-known company during high school.

When I was a freshman they asked me what I was interested in doing and I said science. I feel really lucky to have been placed there. I can definitely say that working there helped me get hired with them later on.

Do you have a favorite memory from your time as a student?

We spent our whole lives here! The day was a little longer back then, but if you played sports you were here all evening. I think some of my favorite memories were when I played volleyball, basketball, and softball.

It was nice to be part of a small environment, because everyone knew you and cared about you. Our class was really close.

Welcome to the Board of Directors, Montanea! We are looking forward to your service.
