FUTURE STUDENT INFO - CORPORATE WORK STUDY
WHEN DO I GO TO WORK?
All Providence Cristo Rey High School students go to work one day a week during the school year.
Freshman work on Mondays, Sophomores work on Tuesdays, Juniors work on Wednesdays, and Seniors work on Thursdays. Students spend the day at their work site. Exact arrival and departure times depend on the location of their work site.
HOW WILL I GET TO WORK?
We provide bus transportation to and from your work site.
WHAT KIND OF JOB WILL I HAVE?
We partner with more than 93 different companies that are in a wide range of fields. We have students that work at hospitals, law firms, universities, tech companies, engineering companies, realty firms, accounting firms, nonprofits, pharmaceutical companies, investment firms, and more.
HOW DO I GET PLACED AT A JOB?
At the end of Corporate Work Study Training Camp, we will hold a job fair. The job fair is where you will meet Corporate Work Study supervisors and rate what company you would like to be placed with for the year. The companies will also rate what students they would like to have - which means you need to make a great first impression! (Don't worry, we will help you learn how to do that during Corporate Work Study Training Camp!)
Your placement depends on availability at each work site, the company's rating, and your rating.
WHAT KIND OF WORK WILL I DO?
All Corporate Work Study jobs are professional, entry-level jobs. You will not be doing food service or maintenance work. Some common first-year duties are answering phones, greeting visitors, filing, data entry, and assisting with events. Every job will help you with your communication, networking, organizational, and time management skills.
Some of our older students do very specific work at their work study site, like helping with animal care at the Indianapolis Zoo or working on an important drought-related project for the State of California with Delta Faucet.
DO I GET PAID?
The money that you earn from your normal hours at your Corporate Work Study site goes towards your school tuition. This is how we keep costs very low for your family. Some companies invite their students to work during school breaks. When you work during school breaks and do not need to make up a missed work day, the money you earn goes directly to you!
