Canvas is a web-based learning management system, or LMS. It is used by learning institutions, educators, and students to access and manage online course learning materials and communicate about skill development and learning achievement.

For parents to see their child's school classes online, they need to connect their account with their student’s account. It's a two-step process. First, the child gives the parent a special code. Then, the parent uses that code to make their own account and become an observer in their student’s classes.
