GRADUATION

Here is all the information that Providence Cristo Rey Seniors need to know regarding graduation. Each year there are several big events to celebrate our seniors, the Senior Celebration on Friday, May 3rd, Graduation practice on Thursday, May 30th, Baccalaureate Mass on Thursday, May 30th and graduation on Friday, May 31st.

SENIOR CELEBRATION

  1. The senior celebration takes place on Friday, May 3rd from 2:30 to 3:30 in the PCR gym.  During this celebration, our community will celebrate our seniors' college acceptances and will enjoy a slide show presentation put together by our seniors. Parents are welcome and invited to attend.

GRADUATION PRACTICE

  1. Graduation practice will take place at PCR at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 30th.

  2. All seniors must attend and participate in graduation practice in order to walk at graduation.

  3. Practice will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will finish at about noon.  Catered breakfast will be provided for seniors on this day. 

  4. Students are required to bring their PCR blazer to practice to be worn later that day for the Baccalaureate Mass.

BACCALAUREATE MASS

  1. Baccalaureate Mass is a special Mass to celebrate and bless our seniors as they prepare to graduate from high school and begin the next phase of their journey.

  2. Seniors are encouraged to invite their immediate family members to Baccalaureate Mass, and each senior is limited to 5 guests for the service.

  3. Seating for the Baccalaureate in the PCR gym will open at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 6:00 p.m. Seating for this ceremony is first come first served for guests.  Seniors and PCR employees and board members will have reserved seating.

  4. Our Parent Ambassadors will be hosting a reception with light refreshments and desserts after the ceremony. We invite you all to stay and celebrate as a PCR community!

  5. All seniors are expected to dress up for the Baccalaureate and to wear the Providence Cristo Rey blazer given to them by PCR this fall. 

 

GRADUATION CEREMONY

  1. Graduation will take place in the Gym at PCR on Friday, May 31st. Doors open for general seating at 6:00 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m.

  2. All seniors are required to arrive at PCR for graduation no later than 5:00 p.m. The two individuals who will be sitting in reserved seats are allowed to arrive with the graduate at 5:00 p.m., and only these two guests will be allowed to enter the gym before 6:00 p.m.

  3. At graduation, there will be two reserved seats for each senior near the reserved seating for seniors in the front.  It is the responsibility of the senior and your family to identify who will sit in the two reserved seats. Ushers at the ceremony will support family members in locating the correct reserved seats.  All other guests will need to sit in the open seating area.

  4. There is no limitation on guests at graduation and seating outside of the two reserved spots is first come first served.

CAPS, GOWNS, AND CORDS FOR GRADUATION

  1. All seniors are required to wear the cap and gown provided by PCR to graduation.  Gowns must be clean, and not decorated in any way. Graduates must fully zip up their gowns for pictures and the ceremony. 

  2. All seniors are required to wear the graduation cap provided by PCR to graduation.  Caps must be clean and not decorated in any way. 

  3. Seniors can only wear the tassel, cords, and stoles provided by PCR to graduation.  No personalized or purchased tassels, cords, or stoles will be allowed at graduation.

  4. Beginning on Tuesday, May 13th, seniors can pay the $25 graduation fee and pick up their cap, gown, tassel, and 10 graduation announcements in the front office. The $25 graduation fee must be paid in full before graduation items can be picked up.

  5. All fees and tuition must be paid in full by Thursday, May 30th in order for seniors to participate in the graduation ceremony on Friday, May 31st.  Senior parents and seniors can inquire at the front office to find out what fees and tuition are owed.
