Where Our Mission Began: The Sisters of Providence

By Zulema Carmona-Cruz | Class of 2027

Hey, did you know our school (Providence Cristo Rey High School) was founded by the Sisters of Providence? The Sisters of Providence are a community of Roman Catholic women religious based in St. Mary of the Woods. They dedicate their time to serve a lot of communities like the poor. They also show their dedication of compassion which represents God’s loving presence to all showing His presence. They spread God’s Provident love to all of us teaching us to serve others. As we may all know we are here on earth, to know, love, and serve God, and by serving others, we are serving God. She recently visited the school to share volunteer opportunities with Seniors and to interact with other students. She got to meet freshmen and new transferred students and also got to share some prayer opportunities with students also including staff. A fun fact about them is: they founded Indiana’s first Catholic college for women. To know even more about the Sisters, you can visit https://spsmw.org/
